Most fun classes to play? Ele/Mes is boring...
I bought Guild Wars when it first came out and had a blast in pre-ascalon, but post-ascalon got really boring really fast. I'm thinking that it's because all my elementalist/mesmer does is cast Flare over, and over, and over. He's only level 9 (and barely left Ascalon) but I can't seem to play him any longer because of the repetitiveness...
So I'm wondering what are the most fun classes to play. Maybe if I try a new class the game could be fun again... |

I find mesmer the most fun, but an E/Me can be awesome fun in pve, double meteor shower using echo is about the most damage you can put out onto a group, casting takes a while, but in FoW its awesome.

I love playing my ele/mes the most. You should get some more skills before you make a decision on any profession. Get all your skills unlocked then you can play around and experiment in PvP.

use your elementalist as a shutdown mesmer, will an energy pool that large you could be quite effective. It's challenging and interesting.

Level 9 is nothing. And yes the game does get quite boring in Old Ascalon, that place is a dump. The game progressivly gets better after that.

I enjoyed N/Me most, although playing pvp warrior is pretty cool.
And yeah, tbh Ascalon and all affiliates is poop. |

I have
Mo/W W/Mo R/E E/N I have the most fun playing my healing monk. I find it more relaxing not having to worry about damage output and I find it challeging to try and keep a party of 8 healed. Its also fun when everyone dies and your the only one left to sneak aroung trying to use rebirth on everyone. My R/E was the most boring while the W/Mo and E/N are ok. Sorena Mascar |

Yeah my E/ME is 22 level. Well 20 + 2... You can get some cool spells later on but flare is a good standby spell for a long time. After some time you can start to flush out your spells and switch to earth, water or air magic. Mesmer has some good damage spells.

I have a E/Mo, W/Mo, R/Mo & a N/Mo and I have yto say that I split my "favorite" character between my N/Mo & my E/Mo.
I love my E/Mo because she is a pure damage dealer who can take out groups of critters! Assuming I can get the enemy to bunch up (quite easy, even with only henchies) then they die very, very fast... Heck, even if they get a bit spread around I can still take them down fast. Only problem with her is she's a bit fragile if she can't get the aggro onto someone else.. but even then has a nice abilty to kill them with some PBAoE smackdown! But really.. the pure and unadulterated joy of smacking down those high damage spells and wiping groupos out... oh yeah baby! hehe My N/Mo rocks! Taking things down 1 at a time is great! But doing so in a fashion which keeps my own health up is great! Summoning meatshields & energy batteries for extra help is a blast when I'm in a hard fight. In fact, this character just laughs at death and laughs when the rest of the group dies... kills the critters and then rezzes them Seriously fun for me.. and funky that I worry less about if the henchies/groupies I'm with die in a fight.. even Alesia/healer-monk ... I can keep myself healed and kill critters! wheeee! In fact I just had fun getting to a certain ghost NPC with my N/Mo.. it had been put at the top of what could be a temple? like area - it's in Diessa Lowlands, down in the lower left corner.. south of where Garfuzz is... you get there by crossing a bridge.. there's usually 3 or 4 bosses in the area too. (this was the hardest place the game has ever put that ghost at for me..). Gotta say it was a huge challange for my lowly N/Mo to do it.. and in fact the henchies all dies and I died once as well.. heh.. but I got through it.. was great fun trying to pull small groups out of the masses, using life stealing and syphoning to keep myself healed while killing things.. summoning Minion's to act as meatshields and bonus damage as well as important boost's of energy when they died.. wheeee! Funnily enough I killed 80% of the charr there solo with the henchies being dead.. hahahaha! They made good corpses for minion summoning! hehehe |

If you find that your Elem is boring and repetitive, then it may be because you are not taking full advantage of the various skills and builds of the elementalist.
Consider this: My second char is an Elem/Monk, but I don't use the Monk part for any more than resurrection normally. Yes, at the start of the game I was a fire specialist, and all these spells are great for damage and nuking. But repetitive, and no real tactics involved. Then I changed to air just to try it. Thought it was dull at first, because air doesn't have those big damaging area spells (chain lightning takes too long to cast and only hits 3 at most). But now I love it! Its more tactical and more supportive. I take with me blinding flash (to blind warriors), and the lightning spell that causes weakness, a few damaging spells, and usually gale to knock foes down. And I do far better with air than I do with fire! The fire area spells are very damaging, but have a long recharge time and are easilly interrupted. Combined with some warriors or other fighters, my air elem does real good and is fun to play. Did Thunderkeep last night successfully, and I kept blinding the Jade warriors. After that it was easy for the warriors to kill them. My Mesmer is my most fun char to play with. The skills are very versatile, and many of them also serve as a supportive role (clumsiness, for example). So if you find that your character is repetitive and boring, then you either aren't playing it in the various ways it can be played, or you deep down inside really just want a warrior to go out and do damage. |
